Before switching over to full-time user interface design Bill was a hardware engineer. Here are some of his projects:
Macintosh External Disk Drive
Apple Computer, Inc. -- 1984
The original Macintosh had only a singe floppy disk drive. Bill managed this project that let users double their storage by adding a second drive.
Macintosh External Video Kit
Apple Computer, Inc. -- 1985
Customers clamored for a way to display the Macintosh screen on giant monitors and video projectors. By leveraging work done elsewhere in Apple, Bill was able to quickly produce this conversion kit.
AppleTalk PC Card
Apple Computer, Inc. -- 1986
Bill was the Engineering Project Manager for this plug-in card that let PCs talk to Macintosh file servers and printers.
